Darling Girls: very mini order

What I love about Darling Girls cosmetics is that lovely feeling you get whenever you receive a package. Susan, the owner, is a genius for creating such a beautiful company that delights the most hidden girly part of any female no matter how un-girly they attempt to be (like myself). That said, perhaps I'm girly than I thought seeing as I'm developing quite the makeup addiction...

BYS Blush (try to say it over and over again)

BYS is steadily becoming my favorite brand of makeup despite it having mixed reviews. I love it primarily because they do not test on animals and are highly affordable - when a girl needs a treat, BYS is easy to splurge on because it hardly makes you feel guilty and you end up with satisfying products. I have a lot of products to showcase in my upcoming posts and I thought I would start off with their Pretty in Pink blush.

Psyche Minerals: Just To Squeal

I have been trying to be really good with money in my first month back in Adelaide but when I saw what Psyche Minerals had to offer...well, she won me over with all the amazing, inspiring dragon-like colors! I am SO in love and I swear I need full-sizes of A LOT of PM products!

Friday Feature: Mayhem, madness, 'mazing macaroons

It's time to fight Friday blues

I miss my Friday Features, in fact I miss my structured blog entries but I refrained from doing them (all the time) as they seemed to constrict my writing. That said, I'm enjoying the fact that it's Friday and while browsing a blog I felt the need to blog about it and realized I could. Under my Friday Features!

Macaroons...macarons, however you want to spell them, I prefer the former as there's something more appealing about the way it looks and fits the actual devilish delight. Would you believe, I actually have yet to have a proper macaroon! And yet I am so in love with them.

It all began with that episode of Masterchef Australia when Adriano Zumbo unveiled his macaroon tower for the elimination round to kill them all...

So smooth it made me squeal

Scantily clad I throw my legs in front of me bringing them to a slight bend as I lean back against the desk and plug in the almost offending device. It is small but daunting, silently mocking me and daring me to give it life, the promise of better tomorrows hanging in the air between us as I assess it warily for a moment before taking a deep breath. Trembling in anticipation, I flick the switch and instantly the silence of my room is filled with a roar that resembles a lawnmower on a Sunday...

A lawnmower on a Sunday?!

Job? But I am a certified princess!

There comes a time in every princesses life where she finds herself pondering the benefits of a little extra cash that she wants to earn herself and not have to ask the king or queen (a.k.a parents) for.

The week of a homesick model

(I vant to suck yer blood a la Hannibal Lector style)

If you follow me on twitter then you will know I am very much alive and have been neglecting my blog since arriving in Adelaide a week ago. Sue me (get it? Get it? No? Oh well...), but I have been busy indulging in my oh so glamorous life of moving back into college, photo shoots and being homesick.

Bloggers, don't apologize for being YOU!

I keep noticing over and over again how many bloggers feel the need to apologize for things that should not need to be apologetic about. Straight away I am going to include myself in the guilty party as I know I have been there too, where I feel the need to say 'Sorry for this and that'.

What are we apologizing for, Bloggers? I send out this plea to all of you: do not apologize for trivial things! It does not matter that the lighting in our photos are not studio quality, it does not matter that we did not bother changing out of our pyjamas before documenting our look of the day, it does not matter that there is one strand of hair falling across our face - none of these small "issues" should be apologized for! If we feel the need to be so apologetic then perhaps we should not be bloggers to begin with. Is it not true that bloggers are regular individuals? Should we not therefore then be given the allowance to be ourselves and not be ashamed or worried about how we are perceived by our audience?

L.A Girl Products and Update

Whew! My life has been hectic and it is only the second day of 2011. I am due to leave Sri Lanka tomorrow and head back to Adelaide and I have never been more stressed or - surprisingly - reluctant to leave home. Family time has been amazing and I am really sad I will not be able to return back home for another year and even then I am unsure of whether or not I will be able to visit at the end of the year. Enough dwelling on that though, come what may I say!

My 2011 resolutions

Happy New Year - officially! It is 2011 and we are all probably very sleep deprived and keen to sleep away the first day of the year but here in Sri Lanka we believe in starting work on the very first day of the year because that paves the way for a productive year. Or so the people here try to convince themselves anyway!

Still, I thought I would be consistent with The Suki Chronicles this year and post regularly so what better post to start off with than my 2011 resolutions?
